PostSubject: The Escape   Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:49 am

Aidan opened his eyes to the sound of dripping. It sounded off in the distance of the dungeon, echoing the emptiness. That was how he felt at first until he sensed something behind his back. Against sore arms, Aidan rose himself off the ground, turning his head to look over his shoulder to see Voltrick. He wasn't able to tell whether Voltrick was awake or not with his head turned away. Aidan considered speaking out to him but soon recalled their earlier conversation. He remembered his hands around Voltrick's neck with a remarkable feeling of satisfaction in it. A chill ran up Aidan's spine as he recalled it; what was he becoming?

A dirtied paw pressed against the slightly damp ground as Aidan moved himself to sit up rethinking whether he should address Voltrick or not. His head lowered, wincing to a sharp pain felt in his stomach. The dagger wounds still seemed fresh. Funny how he didn't feel it earlier...funny how he could only think of wanting blood for what Jonas had done to him. The pain became a sickening feeling in his stomach as he was reminded of Jonas, eyes squinting in a glare while his hands unconsciously shook in unknown anticipation.

"...Voltrick?" He suddenly asked in a straight tone, jerking his head up a bit as though to look back to the tiger, but he kept his eyes forward not daring to make eye contact. As if he would be damned forever if he did...at least that was how he would describe it.

Perhaps he was going mad.

Voltrick hadn't fallen asleep yet... or at least he thought. He was at the point where his head bobbed every so often while his eyes were barely squinted open. It was hard to concentrate. Everytime he would think about something, his drowsy mind would try to turn it into some dream and make him fall asleep. But everytime it did, he forced his head to rise to wake himself up.

Aidan's voice gave him a bit more energy, an alarm clock you could say. But it was more of the satisfaction of staying awake long enough for Aidan to sleep.

Voltrick's eyes widened with his eyebrows raising a bit; blinking rapidly a few times. His brow lowered a bit as he turned to Aidan. "Aidan?" he responded.

Aidan continued to refuse looking at Voltrick, his eyes downcast as he received a reply. So..he was awake. His brows furrowed in concentration, thinking of what to say next. He just wanted to see if Voltrick was awake or not.

"Nothing." he replied honestly, "Just seeing if you were awake." Aidan's eyes rose to glance around the dungeon, trying to find where that dripping noise was coming from. At the same time he thought to himself of a strange feeling he had. He didn't feel...himself, as though something were missing. His half-lid, almost non-caring eyes scanned the dungeon once again.

"I feel strange..." he mentioned outloud, continuing to glance about.

Voltrick turned back toward the gate with a soft grunt. He readjusted his arms to be folded more tightly and sat up straight.
The dripping, that Aidan was hearing, wasn't even noticed by Voltrick. If there was a dripping to be heard. There were always different drops and creaks down here, even a distance voice or yell from outside the dungeon door. You get used it after awhile.
An eyebrow arched after Aidan spoke again and Voltrick turned to look at Aidan again. "How so?" he asked. Hopefully, it wasn't anything too serious. Like from the wounds he recieved earlier. They weren't treated properly... What if it was the loss of blood? Maybe his ripped shirt could help wrap them. "It isn't from your wounds, is it?"

Just then, the dungeon doors opened, however there was barely any light to be seen through them. The door cracked just enough for one person to slide through, which he very well did and began to almost jog towards the gate of the cell Voltrick and Aidan was kept in. With the right amount of lighting away from the shadows, the man revealed himself to be Kirill and he had a rushed expression. In his hands, a load of keys jumbled as he fought to pick the right one for the lock.

"We have little time you two." Kirill whispered harshly as he finally fitted the proper key into the hole, turning it with a click. Aidan watched with detached surprise as though Kirill was nothing but an illusion of his imagination. Perhaps that was because Kirill appeared so suddenly. After opening the gate, Kirill walked in to crouch next to Voltrick trying to find the locks holding the chains together.

"I'm sorry this is so sudden. We have to get you two across the square where a carriage is waiting just outside the Ministry's walls. They'll take you to a safe place." Kirill rushed in explanation, as though someone were following him. That...very well might be true.

Voltrick's ears perked up immediately as his gaze shot over toward the opening door. At first he assumed it was another guard, which sent him to the early signs of anger... but since it was only one person and they appeared it be moving as if rushed, it was out of the ordinary. And out of the ordinary could only mean it might be Kirill.

Voltrick sat up and away from the wall, careful not to kick Aidan as he moved. But what Kirill continued to say, frustrated him. "A carriage? How are you able to even go through with this?" Voltrick raspy voice questioned as Kirill figgeted with his chains.

Kirill began to unlock the chains holding Voltrick as he smiled uneasily, quirking a brow in some obscure humor."Good question," eyes looked up to Voltrick, "You'll just have to go along with it."

The chains were loosened leaving Voltrick free. Aidan watched the two silently until Kirill turned towards him, which Aidan responded with an upturned gaze, waiting for some kind of instruction. Kirill stood as his eyes met Aidan's. Something was off.

"Are you alright?" Kirill asked, the haste he felt not moments ago seemed to vanish as he took time for Aidan's condition. Aidan sensed this and felt snapped back to reality, his dim eyes widening in awareness.

"Y-yes. I guess so." he answered. Feeling strange that he wasn't doing anything, Aidan motioned to try and stand up. Midway the stab wounds forced him to flinch badly, grabbing hold of a cell bar for support. Kirill motioned towards him, but Aidan shook his head and continued to stand.

Voltrick's usual irritated gaze appeared as he shook each wrist a bit before standing himself up. His eyebrows lowered when he stood upstraight; looking toward the dungeon entrance.

Aidan's actions forced Voltrick to turn back towards the cat. A more frustrated gaze quickly appeared as Aidan stumbled a bit as if in pain. Voltrick wanted to offer help, but Aidan refused it to Kirill.

This forced Voltrick to turn back to Kirill with a sneer. "Whatever is going to happen, better happen now."

Looking on Aidan, Kirill was having doubts of the original plan of moving quickly. Voltrick was more than able to hold himself up, but Aidan wasn't going to do fairly especially if it came to a point where they had to separate for stealth reasons. But as Kirill thought these things, Aidan had already begun to walk towards the open door of the cell. In surprise, Kirill looked after him for a moment before quickly glancing back to Voltrick.

"Keep him close. I'll lead you."

With that said, Kirill walked after Aidan to catch up with him. A hand pressed against the cat's shoulder before the snow leopard passed him and hurried towards the dungeon doors to meet his lookout. It was the dead of night where even the smallest of creatures in the night wouldn't make a sound. There were very few lookouts as it was the hour when the lookout shifts rotated. If they did this right, Voltrick and Aidan would be out of here within the hour.

Voltrick made no verbal response after Kirill's command, but followed quickly after him to leave the cell and after Aidan. A quick glance was made back toward his cell. Hopefully it was the last time he'll see it, but he had a feeling he would. He didn't know Kirill's plan, and the feeling of being caught again rekindled as he came closer to the dungeon door.

But Voltrick wanted out of there no less than Aidan did, and Aidan was the first one out of the cell. And they couldn't give up on a chance to get out.

Voltrick was still a bit uneasy with Aidan, so touching him was out of the question. But he did stand at his side and sternly watched forward.

Aidan began to find his pace just after Kirill touched his shoulder. His head rose to look after the leopard before he sensed Voltrick standing next to him. A silent look was given to Voltrick as Aidan stopped shortly to stare. In his mind, he reassured himself that he would have to trust Voltrick after everything that's happened between them. Of course he didn't hate the man...but...Aidan was still frightened by him at the very least. Was that something Voltrick wanted others to view him as or otherwise? Aidan wanted to believe differently.

Further ahead, Kirill was waving a hand at the two, motioning them closer as the hall outside was clear. Aidan noticed this and started for the door, his pace faster than before as he got the feeling back in his legs. He didn't want to slow the rest of them down, this he vowed silently to himself as a hand grasped his wounds, praying they would not hinder him.

Kirill awaited the two, turning his head to the other side to view his lookout.

"I'll handle it from here," Kirill began, using a hand to point to the other side of the hallway, "Go and make sure our path is secure."

With a quick nod, the lookout hurried down the hall to the outside of the dungeon area. There was a rest area for the soldiers that Kirill was worried about. Hopefully at this time of night no one would fancy a drink.

Voltrick gave Aidan a quick glance after Kirill motioned to the both of them. He wanted Aidan to go first, not only to make sure he was on his way but so that he could take up the rear incase they were attacked from behind. But remained a short distance behind Aidan; making sure to not fall behind.

An eyebrow arched when he saw the lookout, but quickly lowered it back to his regular scowl as he surveyed the area a bit more. Another from the rebellion. Voltrick had often wondered just how many were apart of the rebellion and still remained within the ministry's walls. Spies, no less. And it appeared there were more than he anticipated.

Kirill lead the two down the darkened hallway until they reached the other side. There was a large wooden door cracked open by the lookout earlier. Kirill pressed himself against the door, his maw just near the crack to peer through. There was torch-light on the other side, a sign that someone was there, but he heard nothing. The lookout didn't have any torch with him--it made Kirill wonder.

"Jacob...?" Kirill whispered with a lowered brow as he pressed against the door more, causing it to open a little wider. By this time, Aidan and Voltrick managed to walk up to him, his ears twitching in strange anticipation. Finally deciding to walk through the door, Kirill found the next hall was empty with a weak fire on a distant torch. A strange look befell Kirill's features as he began walking onwards. The three doors to the left were all closed and the exit to the square on the opposite side was barely open, just as the previous door. Why wasn't Jacob here?

The lot of them walked through the hall, Kirill leading the others to the door. Just as he laid a hand upon the door to push it open, it swung back with a figure falling harshly to the floor before Kirill's feet. Surprised, Kirill jumped back as he looked down at what fell. He found Jacob with his eyes closed and a bloodied lip. With another step back, Kirill looked up towards the door and felt his heart flutter in shock. Damon and two of his "friends". The terrible lot of vicious tramps.

Kirill lowered his brows as Damon stepped forward, an arm moving to his side as if to block Aidan and Voltrick away from them.

Damon rubbed his wrist a bit as he focused his gaze on Kirill. "A bit late for a stroll, don't you think?" While one of the guards had grabbed Jacob to throw him out of their path, Damon quickly focused on the two standing behind Kirill. One was just behind him while the other stood much taller... His eyes widened upon realizing it was Voltrick.

"Swords!" The other two guards were quick to stand at his side while unsheathing their swords. Each had their own angered, surprised appearance after seeing Voltrick. "You're letting them out?" Damon quickly questioned. "You have chosen to die with them!" He raised his voice as he unsheathed his own sword.

Voltrick was almost instantly enraged and growled loudly while his back arched and neck stiffened. He kept his glare on Damon, but gave a quick glance to Kirill before returning it to Damon.

"Let me take care of them." He mumbled quietly; unable to keep himself from talking. "He cant fight what's not chained to a wall. Let me fight them."

Kirill's head swiftly turned back to see Voltrick hunched over in an almost pouncing position, let alone the tone of voice he held, vengeance seemed to become the main priority to him. Kirill's lips turned to a frown as he backed away from Damon and the swords pointed towards him, moving in front of Aidan.

"Be swift. And make sure they don't scream." Kirill replied to Voltrick flatly, taking hold of Aidan's arm. "Continue down the hall and follow right. We'll meet there." He finished, holding himself and Aidan firmly in place, allowing Voltrick to make a way for them to get out since the others blocked the doorway.
