PostSubject: The First Letter   Mon Aug 04, 2008 12:00 am

The plan I had set up followed through with some success. I expected Damon and his 'friends' to interrupt us and thoroughly believed that Voltrick Mundegard would not have minded that. A man like him, revenge is an important functionality of life, though as barbaric as it sounds.

I did not expect Denzel Mowinckel, however.

Kirill fell to his knees, intaking a quick gasp of breath with shut eyes. The poison felt as though it seeped down from his throat, touching and affecting everything along it's path in a downward motion. The burning sensation like acid inside his body caused Kirill's eyes to water, his breathes felt hot at each exhale. But he knew the poison was not actively causing his body to feel this way. It would be described as a hallucination, a product of his own mind turning against him. The only thing the poison Denzel forced on him did was trigger his mind.

Behind him, Kirill felt Denzel draw nearer as though considering his next action. Then without warning, he felt a boot kick at his shoulder, forcing Kirill to fall onto his back. Denzel almost fell upon him with a syringe in his fingers, disregarding the crossbow. Kirill, afraid of some other poison within the vile, struggled up against Denzel but couldn't help the feeling that this act of fighting was all for show. Nothing in Denzel's eyes could give him an answer.

Who exactly is the doctor working for? The more important question is what he's planning. As I recall, he's shared an alliance with Antonis, and if I'm not mistaken, had even befriended him. I was nearly speechless when I found he works alongside Fyren Valente. After Voltrick had gone after Aidan, I was struggling against the poison's effects until a few soldiers found me. They didn't find me injured in a way that only Voltrick could and resolved that I had taken part in the escape effort.

They found Jacob and dragged his carcass out into the square where many of the soldiers were gathering. He was still alive and after a few slaps of the face he came to. Luckily they didn't find anyone else who participated in the breakout, but finding out who was responsible burned within the hearts of many of the soldiers. Their friends had died by Voltrick's hand.

The poison effects wore off by the time they searched the passageway. Two men held me up by the arms. I pretended the poison was still in my system, hoping I would find an opportunity to get away myself.

Soon there were two soldiers who were dragging out a body from the passageway, getting it into the moonlight for better inspection. As this was happening, Denzel came towards the ones holding me up, barking that I was innocent and that he had mistakenly shot me instead of Voltrick. I tried hiding my dumbstruck expression as the two soldiers released me unable to question Denzel's rank or word. The body they pulled before us all distracted me from taking Denzel aside and questioning him.

Everyone hushed as they looked down to the heavily mutilated face of the body almost awestruck. I realized it was Jonas. Free from question or suspicion, I inspected Jonas (the throat especially) and tried finding out what exactly was used to rip open a throat inside out. I then noticed just a little lower of the throat and below the eye tiny scratch-marks, like claws. They were much smaller than Voltrick's. The haunting realization of the murderer still leaves me feeling heavily downcast.

I must finish this with haste, I'm afraid. For me to write to you now will even further scar the suspicion still left towards me. Perhaps you can understand that I will not be able to meet you as we have planned. I am terribly sorry. The carriage was nowhere to be found and the contents well on their way. Please, if you choose to see them, give them my regards and that I am fine. Both seemed hesitant to leave me.

I will write to you again when the time is right. For now, I will handle my efforts against the Ministry especially with O'luca Viglione's return.

Godspeed, Valcian.

Kirill Nabokov
