PostSubject: A Time to Think   Fri Aug 29, 2008 7:58 am

Voltrick sat alone with a silent gaze forward; overlooking the rooftops of the town. All of the snow had nearly melted and laid in small piles around the road and against buildings. All of the plants were all brown and gray as the trees stood bare with only stems and branches. The wind aggressively pushed forward; knocking wooden signs and doors against their holdings. The morning sun barely rose above the horizon, the evening's ice hadn't been melted yet from the sun's warmth.

Voltrick sat with one knee bent up, propping his right arm ontop of it. His other leg laid straight as his upper body leaned lazily against the tall chimney of the inn's roof.

This had been Voltrick's first sunrise since before he had taken by the ministry. He would have seen it the day before, but he had been hiding in a farmer's barn from Tamil's scouting since the night Voltrick attacked Antonis and Aidan. Being locked up in a dungeon and a room with a tiny, barred window hid the world from Voltrick's eyes. He had nearly forgotten how beautiful the morning light revealed what the evening darkness took away.

But Voltrick's thoughts were elsewhere, they deeply dwelled on everything that has happened ever since he fled the others after attacking them. He mainly thought about that night. How he lost control of himself and fell to his own rage after Gordan, his own son, proclaimed his hatred toward his own father. Then attacked Antonis because he felt that he was the blame. But, in doing so, he attacked Aidan, the one person he promised to never hurt again.

But how could someone like Voltrick ever make such a promise? He cant even control his own rage, how could he expect to not hurt Aidan? Or anyone else for that matter?

Voltrick lowered his head and brow as he tightened his eyes shut; clenching his right fist as frustration took him. Aidan has been hurt so much and all Voltrick did for him was add to his pain. Aidan was his friend. Even in that dungeon, Aidan still tried to befriend him. After all that Voltrick has done, Aidan still held some hope for him. And to repay that kindness, Voltrick lost control and attacked Aidan as he tried to protect Antonis.

His form relaxed a bit as both hands moved to his forehead as it lowered. Even Gordan hated him. His own son wanted him to rot in a cell for all eternity so he wouldn't have to worry about being near him, to have his father's curse forced upon him and be that much more like his father. Gordan said Antonis was more of a father to him. Antonis, the one who started it all.

With every fiber of his being, Voltrick wanted to blame everything on Antonis. Antonis came to the mansion and took over everything Vincent represented. He came for Brandon, he took over the mansion, he has even taken the heart of Vincent's wife. And now Gordan would rather have him as a father. But most importantly, he stopped Voltrick from helping Vincent the day he died. None of this would have happened if Vincent was still here.

Voltrick looked up and blinked heavy; keeping his hands at his face just below his eyes. His brow was still lowered, but his eyes were swelled and red. Why would Antonis even try to take Vincent's place? Why would he stop Voltrick from saving him? There had to be a reason for Antonis to act as he is. Was it malice? A hatred toward Vincent, or even Voltrick himself?

If Antonis did all this for his own hate or discontent, how could Debalora or Brandon remain at his side? Debalora has always been one of the wisest people he's ever known, wouldn't she see past Antonis' lies? Even to Brandon, Vincent's own son, ... how can he not hate the man who prevented Voltrick from saving his father's life? Its as if Antonis has taken Vincent's place... and they were okay with it.

Voltrick's hands parted and shifted to the back of Voltrick's scarred neck and nape. Voltrick's gaze now trailed down the rooftop toward the road. If Debalora, Brandon, and now Gordan have chosen to stay with him. There has to be something more to Antonis that Voltrick doesn't see. Or hasn't seen yet. He considered the possiblity that they feel Antonis actually is a good person, but his hatred rejected the thought immediately. How can he be a good person if he wanted Vincent to go alone? Alone to fight and die because Voltrick couldn't help him. Voltrick scowled. Why did he stop Voltrick? If he is such a great person, why would he want Vincent to fight alone?

Was it because he hated Vincent and wanted to take over everything he had? If that were true, Debalora would have seen it and rejected him. Then, why? ..Antonis had said something to Voltrick that night as he fought him. Voltrick ignored him out of his own angered frustrations for being stopped in the first place.

Voltrick arched an eyebrow and blinked. Vincent did want to go alone and he refused to allow Voltrick come with him before he left to fight Judas. Voltrick came anyway, but was stopped by Antonis. Voltrick had to come, Vincent couldn't do it alone. But why? Why would Antonis stop him from following Vincent, why would Vincent want to fight alone after Voltrick fighting by his side all that time?

Voltrick's eyes widened and dropped his hands infront of himself. Was Antonis respecting Vincent's wishes to go alone? Was it some kind of form of respect for him? Some kind of unseen form of honor for Vincent to face his his brother alone? If Antonis was protecting Vincent's honor by stopping Voltrick from helping him?

Voltrick hadn't really thought about it before, even after all of this time. His anger against Antonis made him refuse to have the chance to think it through. Was he trying to find someone to blame? He blamed himself, but Antonis was there he had to be blamed as well. After time passed, Antonis was the only one to blame. And that only multiplied when Antonis came to the mansion and used Aidan as a way in.

Gordan quickly re-entered his mind as the thought of Antonis sifted through. More importantly how Gordan said Antonis was more of a father to him than Voltrick. Anger riled up within Voltrick again and his entire form tensed up. But even through his anger, tears of sorrow wet around his eyes until it rolled down his cheek.

How could Gordan say such a thing? Voltrick was his father, no one else. And to say Antonis, of all people, was a dagger straight into his heart. No one can replace a father. So why would he say it? Was it to rile him up as some kind of spite? Voltrick has done bad things, but is it worth a son to say he has no father? And even with these bad things, Voltrick couldn't help it. The ministry told him to attack, they tortured him endlessly until he was forced to do what they said.. to believe what they wanted him to believe. No one has endured what he was, no one! Voltrick's fists clenched tightly infront of him.

The image of Gordan's arm quickly appeared in Voltrick's mind. How it ended just below his elbow and scarred horribly as it if was clawed off. The sight sickened him. Voltrick tore off his arm, but could he really help himself? He thought Gordan was dead and he was enraged enough to battle through anyone in his way to follow his orders... But he still did it. To his own son.

Voltrick's eyes tightened shut again as he lowered his head. Voltrick should have known. He should have stopped when he stood right infront of him. How could he attack and mutilate his own son? Everything that has happened to Gordan was Voltrick's fault. Voltrick made his choices and the one's he cared about suffered for it. Voltrick looked up again, an infuriated glare on his face as he glared forward.

Everything was Voltrick's fault. And all he could do was blame everyone else for it.
